The study done in this book was designed as a focused preliminary exploration into the power of the genetic algorithm and fuzzy logic system to the prediction of cancer survival, The results of the experiments were very positive, comparing the outcome of the GA model with that of FL it shows the robustness of the GA model as prediction system.The two principal designs indicate that the use of genetic algorithms and fuzzy logic in NPC is definitely a fruitful endeavour. The results would suggest that genetic algorithms as standalone classifier models are better (based on the system designed in this research) for this sort of task than a fuzzy logic model.

The discovery of interesting patterns from database transactions is one of the major problems in knowledge discovery in database. One such interesting pattern is the association rules extracted from these transactions. The goal of this research was to develop and implement a parallel algorithm for mining association rules. We implemented a parallel algorithm that used a lattice approach for mining association rules. The Dynamic Distributed Rule Mining (DDRM) is a lattice-based algorithm that partitions the lattice into sublattices to be assigned to processors for processing and identification of frequent itemsets. We implemented the DDRM using a dynamic load balancing approach to assign classes to processors for analysis of these classes in order to determine if there are any rules present in them. Experimental results show that DDRM utilizes the processors efficiently and performed better than the prefix-based and Partition algorithms that use a static approach to assign classes to the processors. The DDRM algorithm scales well and shows good speedup.

Master data is critical for any business organization. Big organizations like Oracle, Infosys, IBM, Google, Facebook and TCS started working on Master Data Management (MDM) in early 20’s. Multinational corporations spend millions of dollars for Managing their Master Data, so as to ensure quality of service and customer retention as well. Unlike big organizations, Small and Mid-sized Enterprises (SME’s), because of their limited resources, are unable to exploit the economies of scale associated with master data management. In this paper a Synthetic Semantic Master Data Modeler (SSMDM) has been proposed, this modeler primarily uses the concept of Google’s knowledge graph to identify semantics within data sets. Using SSMDM, synthetic yet realistic master data was generated to find out probable ontologies within synthetic data sets. Based on these ontologies, some rules were framed to produce synthetic facts. These synthetic facts were further used to decide services and cuisines to be offered at a newly opened eating joint.
