The need to support ubiquitous connectivity with higher data rate for mobile computers and communication devices are fuelling a growing interest in broadband wireless access (BWA) networks. WiMAX(Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access ), a technology based on IEEE 802.16 is a standard for Wireless Metropolitan Area Networks (Wireless MAN) which aims to provide broadband access in the “last mile” with QoS (Quality of Service) guarantees for heterogeneous class of services with different QoS requirements. The QoS requirements are given in terms of bandwidth, latency, jitter, reliability etc. Although IEEE 802.16 standard defined the QoS parameters, they do not specify how these QoS parameters are satisfied and it is an open issue for research. This book analyses the design of Adaptive Call Admission Control (CAC) scheme for QoS provisioning in IEEE 802.16 based WiMAX networks. Water Resources Scientists and Engineers are always in the hunt to synthesize stream flow from ungauged catchments. The most popular approach is use of empirical relationships for determining parameters of conceptual models. However, such relationships do not remain accurate, as variations in global atmosphere may bring about changes in the rainfall patterns and geomorphology as well. Commonly used modelling approach is application of linear theories. Main problem with application of linear theories is determination of instantaneous unit hydrographs (IUH) for a basin. IUH, which is unit impulse response function of a basin, describes the link between geomorphologic laws and hydrologic response of the basin. Linking of geomorphology with hydrology of a basin is likely to provide a better picture of the hydrologic behaviour of a catchment, particularly the ungauged ones. This book deals with development of Geomorphological IUH. The book provides a comprehensive approach to development of GIUH for a Himalayan Catchment in India; involving use of toposheets on two different scales. The book will be useful to research scholars, academicians, hydrologists and water resources engineers.

Space and time are often vital components of research data sets. Accounting for and utilizing the space and time information in statistical models become beneficial when the response variable in question is proved to have a space and time dependence. The objectives of this work were to investigate crop yield trends in space and time, quantify the variability in yield explained by genetics and space-time (environment) factors, and study how spatio-temporal information could be incorporated and also utilized in modeling and forecasting yield. Trend of irrigated and dryland crops was analyzed by employing time series statistical techniques. Some traditional linear regressions and smoothing techniques were first used to obtain the yield function. A multivariate time series modeling approach was conducted to demonstrate how the space and time correlation information can be utilized to model and forecast yield and related variables. The conclusion from this research clearly emphasizes the importance of space and time components of data sets because they can adjust for those underlying variables and factor effects that are not measured or not well understood.

Установлены количественные параметры динамики гидротермического режима, содержания кислоторастворимого железа в катенах оглеенных освоенных и осушения почв. Выявлены изменения структуры макро- и микроагрегатов в освоенных почвах, особенности ортштейнов, обусловленные агрогенезом. Изучены гумусово-глеевые почвы тайги, проблемы их использования в сельском хозяйстве. Проведена мелиоративная группировка суглинистых почв.
